MBSR
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week course in simple meditation techniques that can help us become more present to our experience and manage thoughts, emotions and body sensations more effectively.
The Course
In the course you will learn:
- to cultivate awareness and be less caught up in negative thought, feeling and behaviour patterns
- to develop more helpful responses to stress
- simple meditation techniques which can transform daily life, including sitting meditation, body scanning and mindful movement
The course comprises eight weekly 2.25 hour sessions and a one-day retreat (23 hours of teaching/group mindfulness practice in total). Each participant will also have a 30-minute individual telephone orientation prior to the course. The sessions are experiential in nature. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences with the group, although this is not essential. The course provides a safe and supportive environment to explore your experience.
Sessions are made up of a combination of mindfulness meditation, gentle movement, discussions and teaching. We also invite you to develop your own practice through weekly homework (about 45 mins a day). We provide course materials and CDs for you to do this. The cost of the course is £195, which includes the 8 weekly sessions, CDs, course materials and the day retreat. Pre-registration is essential for all our courses.

Morning Courses
- For 8 weeks, from Friday 11th May 2012, 9.45am-12.00pm (day retreat Sunday 24th June). NB No class on 8th June, course finishes 6th July. Book your place.
- For 8 weeks, from Wednesday 19th September 2012, 9.45am-12.00pm (day retreat Sunday 28th October). Book your place.
Evening Courses
- For 8 weeks, from Wednesday 19th September 2012, 7.30-9.45pm (day retreat Sunday 28th October). Book your place.
