The 8-week Mindfulness Course

Eight-week courses are the gold standard of mindfulness training. The course we teach is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, as well as the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) course developed by Mark Williams, John Teasdale and Zindel Segal at the Universities of Cambridge and Toronto. The two approaches are very closely related, and form the basis for most of the clinical research supporting the effectiveness of mindfulness training.

One-day Introductory Workshops

Our one-day workshops introduce participants to the key principles of living mindfully, offering some basic practices to help cultivate mindfulness in daily life.  As well as an experiential introduction to each of the core mindfulness practices taught on the eight-week course, we explore some of the history of mindfulness, and some of the latest scientific evidence for its effectiveness. Participants are also pointed to ways they can begin to develop their own mindfulness practice.

Taster Sessions

Taster sessions offer a great way to learn how mindfulness can help in our lives. In these sessions, which can be scheduled to last from 90 minutes to a half-day, we will explore what mindfulness is and how it can be of benefit. The sessions include an experiential introduction to mindfulness practice, and explore some of the scientific evidence for its effectiveness for a range of issues and contexts.

One-to-one Courses

Mindfulness training can also be offered as a one-to-one course. This typically follows the format of the 8-week course (as 8x90minute sessions). It is also possible to offer as a four-week course (eg 4x3 hour fortnightly sessions).
